Note how the force commander icon remains the same

This is the same Force Commander from Dawn of War II. The Force Commander plays on all missions, and if you have Dawn of War II installed on the same machine, you can continue with your previous save from Dawn of War II on to Chaos Rising. The Force Commander can be corrupted just like all of your other soldiers.

In game

The Force Commander returns stronger than he did before, with more powerful wargear and skills allowing for more varied and effective playstyles. At the end of the game, depending on the Corruption and Redemption Level, the fate of the commander is as follows:

  • Fully Pure: The commander is appointed as an "agent of purification" by Gabriel Angelos and assumes command of the 4th company.
  • Pure: The commander is honored by Gabriel Angelos for his heroism and capabilities.
  • Neutral: The commander is sent by Gabriel Angelos in to exile to the Eye of Terror, to fight the enemies of man alone.
  • Corrupt: The commander is executed for his actions against his brothers and for the use of heretical tactics and weapons.
  • Fully corrupted: The commander becomes a chaos lord and is seen taking his ship to the Eye of Terror.

The Force Commander does not return for Retribution or Dawn of War 3 and his fate is unknown. However due to the appearance of Dawn of War 2/Chaos Rising characters within the following Retribution expansion, the fully pure and corrupted endings are confirmed as non canonical.

Strategy

  • Give the commander the best items since his abilities will put him in the front line. The game will start by giving you a Jump Pack. Later in the game, the player will receive Terminator Armor and a Teleporter Pack. Having this equipment, the player shall use him to quickly dispatch of distant enemies and take damage for his allies while also empowering them using different abilities.
  • Due to improved balancing and stronger stamina skills the Force Commander is much more durable than he was before. This increase in survivability removes the nesesity of iron halos in the previous game resulting in a more balanced loadout.
  • A fully Pure Cyris can use Stimulant Kits for energy, literally giving you infinite uses. Remember to give it to him if you plan on bringing Cyris along for missions.
  • His Command Supremacy skill is really invaluable as it reduce the skill cost of all other squads by half and it can be stacked. Meaning you can spam it until to the point that all other squad members can use their skills without any cost.
