Description | Builder unit. Constructs all Ork buildings. Has limited combat ability, but can be built in large numbers to act as a screen or distraction. Can be reinforced for free, but takes longer then normal. |
Gretchin
"Guns might be that way... let's go the other way."
Gretchin are a slave sub-race in the greenskin community. Not having the size and strength of their bigger cousins relegates them to tasks the Orks don't want to do themselves, like building and repairing stuff or, if lucky, sometimes man some nice blasty gunz!
Gretchin are sometimes referred to as Grotz.
Tactics
Infiltrated Gretchin squads make great scouts while not building. If placed properly, they can slow down an incoming army that has no detectors, since the army's units must find a way to walk around them. However, if they are detected, they die quickly.
Gretchin do little damage in combat, and so in general should try to avoid it. If the enemy is foolish enough not to have detector units they can be used to tie up ranged infantry in melee combat. With their infiltration ability they can easily repair buildings under attack or erect Waaagh! Banners for defense even with enemies close by.
Gretchin can also avoid combat by being garrisoned in an Ork building if no other method of flight is available.
