Firstly, there is no 'canon traitor', just some misguided heretic's dimwitted theory.

In all likelihood, Avitus was NOT the implied traitor. The actual intended implied traitor was probably your player character, the Force Commander - who may or may not have served with Tarkus on Kronus; not much is known about you since you dont talk much. And for obvious reasons you can't be named outright by Tarkus.

Tarkus's exact words to Diomedes (you) were: 'There was another just like you'

(a Force Commander who cant be named; you know, tall guy, space marine captain, leads a small strike force of sergeants, shouts alot, wields a Thunder Hammer just like that etc)

So I dont know how you missed the obvious intended reference, but it seems your heresy and slander has spread across the internet.

Aside from the obvious intended implication that Tarkus killed YOU (like the lying, slanderous heretical dog you are, evidently) there is the even more obvious point that there is no factual evidence.

No, just the fact that Tarkus killed somebody who served with him in the Kronus Campaign does not mean that it HAS to be Avitus. The Kronus campaign must have involved maybe a thousand or more Space Marine brothers; any of whom Tarkus may have served with and ultimately as opposed to him necessarily slaying any of the Squad leaders from Chaos Rising.

Lastly, 'Hammer of the Nameless' (Legendary Thunder Hammer in Retribution) is probably also a reference to the Force Commander from Chaos Rising.
